TRUNK BOYS

Posted by CHRIS on December 14, 2012 at 05:09 PM

Girl & Chocolate Skateboards worked always as a family with a contagious positive vibe. Remarkable styles & tricks, awesome skits and a convincing soundtrack made every video directed by Spike Jonze a classic. Especially in times of flooding internet clips with a short lifespan it’s getting harder to come up with a full on team video, that really stand out. Their latest effort “Pretty Sweet” does stand out and shine light on the whole crew. Especially the young, energized and hungry amateurs worked hard to shine in this video and had a lot of demos and tours to prove themselves. Traveling with the Girl/ Choc family you might find jumper cables, super glue, blankets and other utensils in the trunk, but mainly they’re caring some raw talent: The Trunk Boys.

Their energy may look really wild, but they are all good kids with solid heads on their shoulders. I love Vince’s heart, passion and speed, Raven’s transition skills, Eli’s fearlessness, Cory’s natural ability to progress, and Stevie’s style and grace. - Guy Mariano

We were able to get some quotes by them Trunk Boys:

Which classic Girl/Choc videopart is your fave?

Cory Kennedy: Brandon Biebel in “Yeah Right”.
Raven Tershy: Carroll in “Hot Chocolate Tour” or Gino in “Yeah Right”, that’s actually my favorite. You can’t go wrong with that.
Elijah Berle: Keenan in “Mouse” - too smooth.
Stevie Perez: Paulo Diaz in “Las Nueve Vidas De Paco”.
Vincent Alvarez: Stevie Williams - ‘The Chocolate Tour’.

After watching “Pretty Sweet”, which part will be on heavy rotation?

Cory Kennedy: Vincent’s + Guy’s.
Raven Tershy: All of ‘em! The whole video is going to be on repeat for a lot of people.
Elijah Berle: You pick one: Guy, Marc, Mike Mo, Vincent, Stevie... any of them.
Stevie Perez: MJ for sure! I love the song (David Bowie - ‘Five Years’).
Vincent Alvarez: Marc Johnson.

Best skate-trip and why?

Cory Kennedy: We went to Barcelona this summer for a month! This was the last big trip for the video and everyone came out.
Chillin’ half a day at the beach and skating the rest.
Raven Tershy: Milan and Barcelona. I didn’t get that much footage, but just skating around those places was really fun!
We went to Nicaragua and stayed at Chico’s family house down there. That was a crazy experience.
Elijah Berle: Barcelona. Or If I have to pick one: Nicaragua.
Stevie Perez: Barcelona was the first time I ever saw everybody together.
Vincent Alvarez: Montana with the Trunk Boys!

Which items are essential for you on a tour?

Cory Kennedy: Credit Card! I lose everything else.
Raven Tershy: Skateboards, passport, clean socks & boxers.
Elijah Berle: Enough socks, skateboard, a wallet.
Stevie Perez: Your skate set-up, a little bit of beer and smoke, a pillow! It’s hard to sleep in a van sometimes.

 What gets you pumped?

Cory Kennedy: Some RBL.
Raven Tershy: Cory & Vincent - they always blast music on every spot. Just skating with your friends, not stressing out and having fun while we’re filming. It works better that way.
Elijah Berle: When we’ve been on a trip forever and everybody is still skating. Cory is usually the one, who is hyping everybody up. He’s got the speaker out, screaming at you, keep you fired up!
Stevie Perez: Skating with all the Trunk Boys. They juice it - they juice it hard, they go for it and that’s what makes me wanna skate too - every time!
Vincent Alvarez: When other people skate the spot with me I’m soooo psyched!!

What’s your secret energy source?

Cory Kennedy: My big dogs, everyone I’m skating with.
Raven Tershy: Sleep, brew, weed.
Elijah Berle: I’m usually pretty tired. It depends on the morning: either a beer or a coffee, this goes both ways.
Stevie Perez: Just try to skate as much as I can, whenever I can.
Vincent Alvarez: Monster Drink...hahaha PSYCH!!

Who should we look out for in the future?

Cory Kennedy: Raven, Elijah, Vincent & Stevie!
Raven Tershy: My friend JP is coming out with a rap album, that will be good… it’s cool to see your friends doing what they like to do! Look out for them.
Elijah Berle: Trunk Boys video coming out next! Hopefully we’ll be back here doing the same as for “Pretty Sweet”.
Stevie Perez: Look out for Raven Tershy, he’s going to do some gnarly shit in the next few years! Tony Karr!
Vincent Alvarez: Madars Apse and Martin Bernal.
