This week's playlist is chosen by our very own editor in chief Sven Fortmann/Forty.
I wish I could've come up with a certain topic for this playlist, but my brain still feels too intoxicated by last year's NYE-extravaganza. So instead, here's simply 10 songs that did it for me during these first days of 2010.
01. UNDERPASS : twenty eight days
The Cardiff based producer is going to drop his surprisingly good debut these days… make sure you don't miss it.
02. UNIVERSAL STUDIOS FLORIDA : 12 velvet painting of the stars
This Seattle duo will have their well-deserved breakthrough this year, no doubt about it.
03. LOST IDOL : jah guidance
More beats and bass and melodies than your average dope beat inferno.
04. TORO Y MOI : minors
His quilted filter pop will melt even the thickest ice caps.
05. BOWERBIRDS : crooked lust
I was listening a lot to these guys during the rollercoaster ride of 2009. Stunningly beautiful. Time to go back to the usual hatred-routine.
06. HURRICANE BELLS : tenterhooks
It's Steve Schiltz from Longwave with a (rather brilliant) new project.
07. PELICAN : ephemeral
Hard rocking instrumental bliss from Chicago's finest.
08. JOGGER : gorilla meat
Their album was kind of a mixed bag, but this track here delivers the goods.
09. THE SMITH WESTERNS : dreams
Chicago once again, but this time it's all about good ol' garage pop.
10. CLOUD NOTHINGS : old street
Cleveland's boy wonder Dylan Baldi sure knows a thing or two about juvenile pop anthems.
